FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
The duties and powers of the Union are as follows:
(A) To coordinate and develop professional and social activities among members,
(B) To strive to preserve and develop professional traditions in order to provide services to the public,
(C) To protect and develop the honor, dignity, material and moral rights and interests of its members; to strive to harmonize these with the interests of the public and the State in the best possible way,
(Ç) To conduct professional supervision,
(D) To establish a Continuing Education Unit,
(E) To strive to protect public health, to bring patient rights to the standards accepted in the modern world, to find the necessary employment opportunities to bring its members to a certain level of welfare, to protect the rights and interests of the profession and colleagues in the application of relevant laws, and to work towards the fair distribution of all kinds of work,
(F) To cooperate with official authorities on public health and professional issues and to obtain assistance from official authorities in matters concerning public health and the profession.
(G) To regulate relations between members or members' relations with patients and to protect professional discipline and professional ethics,
(Ğ) To organize professional meetings, seminars and conferences,
(H) To purchase, construct, rent, accept donations or dispose of land, buildings or properties that the Association deems necessary to meet its building or premises needs and to achieve the purposes set forth in this Act, with the decision of the Board of Directors and the approval of the General Assembly,
(I) To meet the educational, social and cultural needs of its members,
(İ) To borrow up to an amount not exceeding its annual income with the decision of the Board of Directors; and for amounts exceeding its annual income, with the decision of the Board of Directors and the approval of the General Assembly, and to mortgage its immovable properties for this purpose,
(J) To provide assistance to health-related associations, professional organizations or similar organizations to the extent possible, and
(K) To initiate efforts to become a member of similar international professional organizations and, if possible, to become a member.
The Union collaborates with other professional organizations operating in the same fields on matters it deems appropriate and conducts research and development activities in areas within its scope of activity.
Specialist nurses, specialist midwives, senior nurses, senior midwives, nurses, and midwives in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus must be registered in the Union's membership registry and maintain their membership obligations in order to practice their professions, take up and continue working in public hospitals, private healthcare institutions, or other official or private organizations.
Individuals not registered in the Union's membership registry cannot practice nursing or midwifery.

For TRNC Citizens:
1. Photocopy of diploma (and specialization diploma, if any) (Must be certified as a true copy. (Approved by the Ministry of National Education or YÖDAK)
2. Photocopy of Nursing and Midwifery Board certificate (if any)
3. 3 photographs
4. Photocopy of identity card
5. Union Membership Application Form
6. Union Membership Dues Form
7. Criminal record certificate (TRNC) - Valid for the last 6 months
8. Residence certificate (Original and must have a 4.00 TL stamp)
9. Photocopy of marriage certificate if there is a surname change
10. Written document from the employing institution (must state the start date of employment, position, and salary)
For Non-TRNC Citizens:
1. Photocopy of diploma (and specialization diploma, if any) (Must be certified as a true copy.) (Approved by the Ministry of National Education or YÖDAK) (Approved)
2. Three photographs
3. Photocopy of ID card
4. Union Membership Application Form
5. Union Membership Dues Form
6. Criminal record certificate (TRNC + Country of origin) - Valid for the last 6 years
7. Residence certificate (Original and must have a 4.00 TL stamp)
8. Written document from the employing institution (should state start date, position, and salary)
